St. Patrick’s Day is almost here and right along with it will be all the parties filled with green, tasty treats and fun Irish traditions. Our family has some Irish in our blood, so naturally we love to join in on the festivities this time of year. We love our cocktails too, so we decided to put a boozy (and skinny!) spin on a classic fast food favorite. The Shamrock Shake.
Our Skinny Spiked Shamrock Shake keeps all the delicious mint flavor that you love, but we have added in some Bailey’s Irish Cream to really get the party started. Then, we swapped some ingredients for lower calorie versions because…why not!? The best part about this recipe is that we used Halo Top ice cream (best invention ever), which has protein in it. So, you can enjoy this shake knowing you are fueling your body for the long day of celebration ahead. If you don’t have Halo Top or can’t find it at your local store, you can also use a low-fat or fat free vanilla ice cream option to achieve a similar calorie deficit. The leprechauns won’t mind either. 🙂
Whipping up some Skinny Spiked Shamrock Shakes for your friends will ensure that you are praised, and not pinched!
What You Need
Ingredients:
- 3-4 scoops of Halo Top Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
- 1/2 cup Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1 tsp. mint extract
- 5-8 drops of green food coloring
- Whipped cream for topping (we used Redi Whip for a low calorie option)
- Green Sugar Sprinkles for garnish
Step By Step
- Mix your ice cream, Bailey’s Irish Cream, mint extract, and food coloring in a blender until smooth. Then, pour in your favorite glass and top with whip cream and sprinkles for garnish!
NOTE: Feel free to make this shake without the “Spiked” for kids, or to simply enjoy without the booze!
