Skinny Sparkling Margarita

2.4K

Let me be honest with you. This cocktail recipe started off as a simple experiment. Texas girls know their way around a margarita, and since my sister and I are from Texas we consider ourselves expert margarita tasters. ? We wanted to create a margarita that incorporated a twist on the traditional, but nothing too fancy that it ended up requiring a dozen steps or ingredients to make it. So, one afternoon we decided to not put any pressure on ourselves by agreeing that if our recipe testing went well, we would share it with our followers. If it was a bust, we would discard of it and never speak of what happened here ever again. Well, lucky for you (and us!) it was a huge winner! Not only does it taste like a million bucks, it is a very low calorie option (which we always love!). In honor of National Margarita Day, we are sharing this very special Skinny Sparkling Margarita. It provides all the saltiness a traditional margarita has, but this version is perfectly light and crisp. We have officially filed it under our “Favorite Low Calorie Cocktails”!

This Skinny Sparkling Margarita recipe only requires two main ingredients…Skinnygirl Ready-to-Serve Margarita Mix and Brut Champagne. How simple is that!? We are huge fans of the Skinnygirl cocktail line. They provide tons of awesome low calorie options that are still full of flavor. So, you can afford to have two (or three!). Please drink responsibility. 🙂 The reason why we chose the premixed low calorie option over a homemade skinny margarita (using fresh limes, tequila, triple sec, and sugar) is pretty honest. We ended up preferring the taste of the Skinnygirl option over our “homemade” skinny cocktail creation. It’s that simple.

We decided to sugar the rims of our glasses instead of the traditional salt, and I am so glad that we did. The sweetness really cuts through the tartness of the margarita, and adds a perfect balance of salty and sweet. ? If you prefer salt over sugar, feel free to make it they way you like it.

Let me be clear. This cocktail will NEVER replace a delicious Texas-style frozen or on the rocks Margarita. But, it truly is the perfect alternative for when you want a flavorful cocktail without all of the calories that a traditional Margarita comes with. So, cheers to you!

What You Need:

Skinnygirl Ready-to-Serve Margarita Mix

Brut Champagne (or any sparkling champagne you prefer)

Salt or Sugar (for rim)

Lime (for garnish)

Step by Step:

The steps are very simple (we promised you a very easy cocktail after all!). Use a lime wedge to wet the rims of your glasses, and dip them into your sugar mixture. Once your rims are sugared, pour your glass halfway with chilled Skinnygirl Ready-to-Serve Margarita Mix. Then, top it off and fill the remaining half of your glass with chilled Brut Champagne. That’s it. You are done!

For those of you who prefer exact measurements, I would suggest 4 oz. of Skinnygirl Ready-to-Serve Margarita Mix, and top it off with 4 oz. of Champagne. ?

Happy National Margarita Day, y’all! ?
